Access control
Access control applies row-level filtering to the sheets in a dashboard. By configuring different options for different members, you can limit the range of data each member can see and keep your data secure.
Configuration steps
Click the Access Control button at the top of the dashboard
Select a sheet
Before you start configuring access control, select the sheet that the access control will use.
You can use sheets whose status is Available.
You can also change the selected sheet later while editing. After you change the sheet, any data configuration you've completed is cleared.
Data configuration
Field
Access control uses a single text field for control. You can drag the field in from the right
Options settings
Permission settings
After you configure the options, you also need to configure rules
- Rule name: Up to 80 characters. The default rule can't be changed
- Controlled group: Select from all members the dashboard is shared with. The default rule can't be changed
- Available options: Select from the configured options
- Actions: Delete the rule. The default rule can't be deleted
Note that when a member views the dashboard, the options they can actually use are the union of the available options of all the rules they match
Using the configuration above as an example, the options actually available to each member are as follows
| Matched rules | Actual available options | |
|---|---|---|
| test_1 | Default rule iOS only | iOS |
| test_2 | Default rule Android only | Android |
| test_4 | Default rule iOS only Android only | iOS Android |
| test_5 | Default rule All platforms | iOS Android |
| Other members | Default rule | (None) |
Sheet association
If fields in multiple sheets have the same meaning and you want them restricted by the same access control, click to associate them across sheets
Style configuration
- Show Title: Add a title to the access control so that users can identify its content
- Type Settings: Configure the access control as single-choice or multi-choice, and show or hide the search box
Configure multiple access controls
You can set up multiple access controls for a dashboard, but each sheet can be affected by only one access control
Result
When viewing dashboard data, members can select only from their available options. Data in all charts on all pages that use the associated sheets is calculated based on the selected options.
If there are no available options, the control is displayed empty, and no data can be queried from any of the sheets associated with this access control
