Sheets
A sheet is a table created in a BI dashboard from data within the project. It's the basis for designing and developing charts and filters later.
You can work with sheets only in edit mode, including viewing, editing, deleting, and renaming them.
Create a sheet
After you enter the BI dashboard's edit mode, you can see the sheet page at the bottom.
After you click to create a sheet, the sheet's SQL editor area opens.
When you create a sheet, you can use the tables in the table dictionary on the right.
After you write the SQL, click Debug to see the SQL execution result.
After debugging succeeds, the sheet becomes Available. If it hasn't been debugged or debugging fails, the sheet is Unavailable. Only available sheets can be used to build charts and filters.
Field and logic configuration
For a sheet that has been debugged successfully, you can see all fields in the table below. Field names and field types come from the SQL execution result. You can also set a display name for each field to make it easier to use later when configuring charts.
After debugging succeeds, you can preview 1000 rows of the sheet. Click the download button to download the preview data as a CSV file and view it locally.
Common metrics
Based on existing fields, you can also configure common metrics for a sheet. Two build methods are supported: simple aggregation and custom
After configuration, you can use them directly in chart components without configuring the build logic and metric names again, which keeps definitions consistent
Sheet operations
Edit a sheet
For an available sheet, any change in the SQL area (including character changes such as spaces and line breaks) counts as editing the sheet.
After the SQL is edited, the sheet becomes unavailable and must be debugged successfully again.
Delete a sheet
Click the settings button next to a sheet to delete it.
If a sheet is used by chart or filter components, deleting the sheet also deletes the corresponding components. To keep a component, first edit it and change the sheet it uses, and then delete the sheet.
Duplicate a sheet
Click the settings button next to a sheet to duplicate it.
When you duplicate a sheet, its SQL content, field information, and so on are carried over.
Rename a sheet
After you open a sheet, double-click the sheet name to rename it.
Sheet names have a string length limit.
Use sheets
The main purpose of creating sheets is to use them in charts and filters.
Only sheets that have been debugged successfully and are Available can be used in charts and filters.
If a sheet that is already used by chart and filter components becomes unavailable because of edits or changes, these components are broken until the sheet is debugged successfully again.
If a sheet field that is used by chart and filter components is deleted, the components are also broken.
In edit mode, charts and filters use the sheet's preview data (1000 rows), not the full data. In view mode, the sheet's full data is used to calculate and render charts and filters.
