Create a BI dashboard
Where to create a BI dashboard
Similar to creating a dashboard, you can create a BI dashboard in My Space or a Team Space.
Structure of a BI dashboard
A BI dashboard consists of sheets that provide data and pages that display chart content.
Sheets
A newly created BI dashboard opens directly in edit mode. Sheets are the data foundation of charts, so you usually start editing a BI dashboard by creating a sheet. Click to create a sheet, use the tables available in the table dictionary on the right, and write SQL. After the SQL is debugged successfully, the generated data and fields together form a complete sheet. A BI dashboard can have up to 10 sheets. Next, you can use the created sheets to add different components, such as charts and filters, to pages. These components share all the created sheets, and the relationship between sheets and components is one-to-many. Changes to a sheet affect all charts and filters that use it.
Pages
Users who view a BI dashboard cannot see its sheets. Viewers can only see pages and the components on them. A BI dashboard can have up to 10 pages.
You can rename, duplicate, hide, and delete pages. When you duplicate a page, all existing content on the page is copied to the new page. Deleted pages cannot be restored. Hidden pages are invisible to viewers but can still be viewed and edited in edit mode.
Page settings
You can set the page theme, global style, and canvas background for each page separately. The theme applies to all components on the current page and affects the page background color and the color schemes of components. Themes include Smart Tech, Steady, Contrast, Soft, and Dark Mode, and you can also save custom themes in the Custom tab. The theme of a BI dashboard is not affected by the global theme of the AE system. After you set the theme, you can change the canvas background color separately. You can use a solid color or an image as the canvas background. The canvas size is General Desktop by default. You can change the canvas size based on your usage scenario or customize it. In Layers, you can quickly adjust the stacking order of components on the page or hide/show certain components.
Add components
Each element on a page that displays content is called a component. Click the component area at the top of the page, click the component you want to add, and drag it to the desired position on the page. You can drag components anywhere on the page and resize them by dragging. You can duplicate, delete, edit, and arrange components.
Edit components
Click a component on the page to select it, and then edit it in the editing area on the right. Different components support different editable content, including the data configuration of the content displayed in the component and the appearance of the component. For details, see the description of each component.
View a BI dashboard
By sharing a BI dashboard, admins can share it with others and assign different management and collaboration permissions to different users. When you view a BI dashboard, you can click Presentation Mode for a better display.
