Catalog tables available for SQL sheets

Last updated 10/03/2026

The tables you can use to create sheets are called the Catalog.

Catalog panel overview

When you create a sheet, the catalog expands automatically on the right side of the page, and you can see all available tables in the catalog panel. You can click to collapse the catalog panel.

For a specific table, click Parse to generate a parse statement directly in the SQL area. You can also click the copy button to copy the table name and paste it into your statement.

When you click a specific table, all of its fields and information expand below it. You can copy fields, or select multiple fields and copy them.

Catalog categories

By default, dashboards can use the built-in warehouse. If you've enabled an application warehouse, you can also use the catalog tables in the application warehouse.

Note: Tables from different warehouses can't be run in the same SQL.

Built-in warehouse

Built-in warehouse project tables are tables available to the system in AE. They usually include tables you can see in the SQL IDE, such as the user table, event table, and tag and cohort table, as well as tables authorized directly to the project from the DataOps Platform. In dashboards created by users who have permissions for other projects, an option to switch projects appears in the built-in project table area. Tables for the current project are shown by default. After you switch projects, the tables for that project are shown.

Catalog tables in the built-in warehouse fall into the following types

  • Basic table: Includes the event and user tables obtained through data reporting in the project, and tables generated by features such as tags and cohorts.

    • Event Table: Click the table to expand all event partitions obtained through data reporting. You can parse and copy events directly
    • User Table
    • Tag and Cohort Table: Click the table to expand all tag and cohort partitions. You can parse and copy tags or cohorts
    • History Tag Table: Same as the tag and cohort table
    • User Snapshot Fact Table
  • Dimension table: Dimension tables generated from all property associations.

  • Other tables: Temporary tables in the project and similar tables.

  • DataOps Platform authorized tables: Tables processed in the DataOps Platform and authorized to this project. You can view only the authorized tables of the current project. Cross-project queries on authorized tables of other projects aren't supported.

Application warehouse

Prerequisite: The application warehouse is enabled in the DataOps Platform and authorized for use by dashboards in the current project.

After the application warehouse is enabled, a switch option appears in the catalog panel.

After you switch to the application warehouse, the sheet status changes to unavailable, and you need to debug the sheet again. Existing SQL runs against the application warehouse path after the switch. If the warehouse doesn't contain the tables referenced in the SQL, execution fails. After the switch, the catalog panel shows the tables in the application warehouse, which you can parse and copy directly.

Compute engines

Dashboards support two compute engines: Trino and StarRocks. StarRocks depends on DataOps Platform features and can be used only after the corresponding switch is turned on in the DataOps Platform. For details, contact your ThinkingAI representative. Once it's turned on, the built-in warehouse supports switching between the two engines, but the Trino dialect is used for both, meaning you still need to create SQL sheets with Trino syntax. The application warehouse supports only StarRocks.
