Adjust attribution channel name shows Unattributed
Background
On June 17, 2025, Meta re-enabled AMM. You can get Meta raw data only after you agree to and sign Meta's AMM terms. If you haven't signed the AMM terms, the Meta channel information in Adjust raw data is returned as Unattributed and doesn't carry ad details such as campaign.
If you still want to get the raw attribution information of some Android users who installed the app after clicking Facebook ads, you need to use a new set of placeholders. This is a new data delivery mechanism introduced by Facebook.
Solution steps
1. Configuration on the Adjust side
1. Client configuration
GPIR
To enable GPIR, you need to set up Google Play Install Referrer.
MIR
To enable the MIR plugin, you need to update the Adjust Android SDK to v5 and configure the Meta install referrer plugin.
2. Add the Decryption Key from Facebook to the Adjust Facebook module
You can now get the Decryption Key in your Facebook developer account (https://developers.facebook.com/) (Dashboard > Settings > Basic > Android (Google Play) Install Referrer Decryption Key). Each Decryption Key corresponds to a unique Facebook App ID. This value is the key to getting the app's data source. Add it to the Adjust dashboard (app settings of the Android app > Partner setup > Facebook)
3. Add placeholders to the callback URL
The following are the new placeholders used in this solution to get app data. We currently support adding these placeholders to install activity callbacks and hope to extend them to other activities in the future. For now, we recommend that you map install and post-install event data with {adid} or another internal ID.

2. Configuration in the AE backend
Configure user property ingestion rules in the Adjust real-time callback plan
In the AE backend, go to Third-party Integration, and in Receive Settings, click Configure Rules under User Properties Configuration to add the corresponding rule. For example, map fb_install_referrer.publisher_platform to the target property name fb_network_name (it must be distinguished from the original default field network_name; otherwise, the value finally ingested is still Unattributed)
Then create a custom property that checks and merges the two channel fields (the same applies to the other attribution fields)
#If "#adjust_network_name" ='Unattributed', take "fb_network_name"; otherwise, take "#adjust_network_name"
if("#adjust_network_name" ='Unattributed' ,"fb_network_name" ,"#adjust_network_name")
Note 1:
When you configure this, distinguish whether the placeholders include fb_install_referrer, fb_install_referrer_ad_id, or both:
1. If only fb_install_referrer is present, configure the AE backend based on the second-level field fb_install_referrer.ad_id
2. If only fb_install_referrer_ad_id is present, map fb_install_referrer_ad_id directly in the AE backend
Note 2:
If the fb-related properties aren't ingested after you configure this, troubleshoot as follows: first check whether the corresponding fields appear in the receiver logs. If they don't --> check whether you've obtained the Install Referrer Decryption Key and whether it matches the corresponding Facebook App ID
