Metric

Last updated 10/03/2026

Metrics are key to data analysis. You can create project-wide metrics, such as active users or revenue, which other project members can use directly in their analysis. If a metric definition needs to be adjusted, you can also modify it promptly so that incorrect data results don't affect business decisions.

Quickly create a metric in Events Analysis

In Events Analysis, you can use Create Metric to save metrics that meet business needs and whose data has been verified, so that you can reuse them in other scenarios. The events, calculation methods, and filters (excluding global filters) selected when you configure the metric in the model are automatically carried over to the metric definition.

Fill in the basic information of the metric and click Save to create the metric. The metric name is a unique identifier and can't be modified after creation.

Note that you can't create a metric if the configuration logic of the current metric uses an existing metric or includes an event breakdown.

Quickly create a metric in Retention Analysis

Similar to Events Analysis, in Retention Analysis you can click the Create Metric icon on the right side of the Analyze Users row to save the retention rate, churn rate, and other values for a specific day. The corresponding entity, initial and return events, and filters (including global filters) are automatically carried over to the metric definition.

tip

Take daily retention data as an example. In the Retention Analysis model, you select Analyze N-day retention, and the table shows all analysis periods: the current day, day 1, ..., day N. In a retention metric, you need to select The performance on a specific day N that the metric corresponds to, which is one column of data in the retention table.

Analyze with metrics

In Events Analysis, you can directly select created metrics instead of selecting events, calculation methods, and filters again. You can also use metrics in formulas and combine them with other metrics or constants.

For example, if you want one report to show new users, active users, and total revenue, as well as metrics created in Retention Analysis such as day-1, day-3, and day-7 retention, you can first create these core KPI metrics, then reference them in Events Analysis and save the result as a report.

Note

Metrics shown together must share a common time granularity. For example, the day-1 retention rate supports only Daily, and the week-1 retention rate supports only Weekly, so they can't be put in the same report. Metrics that use Extend Date Range support only the Daily time granularity and can't be shown together with weekly or monthly retention metrics.

Manage all metrics in a project

Click Data > Management > Metrics to view the metrics created in the current project. If there are too many metrics, you can filter them by creation method or use the search box for fuzzy matching.

You can also create a metric directly, choosing either the Events Analysis or Retention Analysis creation method, and customize the display format, calculation method, and more.

For created metrics, you can edit the metric definition, but the metric name and creation method can't be modified. If you no longer need some metrics, you can delete them, and all reports that use them become unavailable.

For example, when you analyze with the DAU metric, you find that the data is abnormal. After investigation, you find that tracking data reported by some channel packages is problematic, so you must exclude this data from the metric. Go to the metric editing page, add a filter, and save. All reports that use the metric are then calculated with the latest definition, without repeated changes.
