Dashboard digests: Feishu custom app bot setup

Last updated 10/05/2026

When you use Send Now or Send Digest Updates for a dashboard and choose to send through a Feishu robot, you need a Feishu app that supports image uploads, and you need to provide the following app information:

i) App ID of the custom app

ii) App Secret of the custom app

You also need a bot for sending, for which you need to provide:

iii) Webhook URL of the sending bot

To get the i) App ID and ii) App Secret above, contact your company's Feishu admin or go to the Feishu Developer Console to get the app details. If you don't have an app that supports sending yet, you need to create a custom app. First check with your admin whether you have the required permissions. If you already have the app information, get the App ID and App Secret, and then go directly to Part 2.

Part 1: Create an app

Follow the process below. It takes about 10-15 minutes.

Step 1: Create a custom app

(About 3 minutes)

  1. Go to the Feishu Open Platform from the Feishu Workplace, or by clicking https://open.feishu.cn/app/ and logging in to Feishu. Select Create Custom App.
  1. Name the custom app. We recommend "ThinkingAI Push" as the app name and "Push messages from the ThinkingAI AE system, supporting images, text, links, and more." as the app description. We also recommend the ThinkingAI logo shown below as the app icon. Click Create to finish.

Step 2: Enable bot sending

(About 5 minutes)

  1. In Add Features, add Bot and open its configuration.
  1. Enable the image sending permission. By default, the daily report includes an image of the dashboard, so you need to enable the related permission to make sure the daily report is sent properly. In Permissions & Scopes > API Scopes, search for the permission named "im:resource", select it, and then click Confirm.

Step 3: Release the app

(About 5-10 minutes; requires a response from your organization's admin)

  1. In App Release, find Version Management & Release and create a version
  1. When you release the app, assign it a version number for easier management. Select Create a version and fill in the required information.

We recommend "1.0.0" as the app version number and "Supports sending dashboards with images, text, and links" as the update notes.

  1. After the app is released, by default only its creator can use it. You can change this to All members as needed. After you confirm the app's features and permissions, click Save and submit a release request
  1. After your organization's admin approves the request, the app status changes from Pending release to Enabled, and the current version of the custom app is released.

Step 4: Get the App ID and App Secret

(About 2 minutes)

  1. Go to the app details, open the Credentials & Basic Info page from the menu, and find App Credentials.
  2. Copy the App ID and enter it in the digest settings. The App ID doesn't change.
  3. Click to show the App Secret, then copy it and enter it in the digest settings.

Multiple dashboard digest tasks can share the same App ID and App Secret, so you don't need to create the app again.

Part 2: Send with a custom bot

The following steps are one of the ways to set up a custom bot. For other configuration methods, see the official Feishu documentation: How to get the webhook URL.

Step 1: Add a custom bot to a group

Feishu supports adding custom bots to a Group chat or a Topic group.

  1. (Optional) Create a topic group: In Feishu, click + and select Create Group.
  1. In the group Settings, go to Bots to add a bot, and select Custom Bot

Step 2: Configure bot sending

  1. Get the webhook URL
  1. Copy the webhook URL and enter it in the dashboard digest settings
  1. (Optional) Configure security settings for the custom bot. To prevent unrelated messages from using this webhook URL, you can set Keywords. After you set keywords, the text of the daily report must contain the keyword for it to be sent successfully. You can edit the text in Message of the dashboard digest settings.

Notes after you configure the Feishu app and bot

  1. For further development of the app, see the Feishu introduction to the development process and tools.
  2. The custom app created with the steps above can send multiple dashboards, so you don't need to create the app again. Multiple dashboard digest tasks can share the same App ID and App Secret.
  3. Don't reset the App Secret frequently. Resetting the App Secret prevents the AE system from getting the app_access_token, and existing digest rules stop working. If you have reset the App Secret, manually enter the new App Secret in the dashboard digest rules in the AE system.
