Use Extend Date Range
This section describes how to use Extend Date Range in Events Analysis to configure metrics such as DAU/WAU and the ratio of daily revenue to the total revenue of the month.
By default, the data result for a displayed date comes from the selected event on that date. For example, the DAU on January 7 is the number of users who triggered the login event on that day.
Some special metrics work differently. For example, DAU/WAU, which measures user stickiness, is defined as the number of users who logged in on the day divided by the number of users who logged in over the last 7 days. For the same displayed date of January 7, the numerator counts users who logged in on January 7, while the denominator must count users who logged in from January 1 to January 7. The time range of the calculation goes beyond the displayed date, and this is what Extend Date Range is for.
Events Analysis currently supports the following five ways to extend the time range:
| Option | Logic |
|---|---|
| Last | The last N days relative to the displayed date, excluding the displayed date |
| Recent | The most recent N days relative to the displayed date, including the displayed date |
| Whole Week | The whole week that contains the displayed date; the week start day is customizable |
| Whole Month | The whole month that contains the displayed date |
| Range | A time range relative to the displayed date: a negative number means N days before, a positive number means N days after, and 0 means the same day |
Besides user stickiness metrics, you can also use the extended time range to calculate period-over-period data for analysis metrics and show the period-over-period trend.
You can also quickly view the ratio of each day's revenue to the month's total, and show the cumulative trend with a cumulative chart.
After you turn on Extend Date Range, the time granularity is locked to Daily and can't be changed.
