Visualization module

Last updated 10/03/2026

The AE visualization module provides rich data processing and display capabilities. You can use it to add interactive charts to query results, save them as reports, and then view them in dashboards.

Currently, the visualization module is only available in the SQL IDE module.

Add a visualization chart

On the SQL IDE page, click New chart to open the visualization settings page.

Configure chart fields

After you select a chart type, on the Data tab, drag result fields to the group or metric configuration area to see how the chart displays.

Different configuration items correspond to different mapping logic. Taking the line chart and scatter plot as examples, the field mapping logic is as follows:

Chart typesConfig itemsMapping description

Line chart

X-axis/GroupMapped to the X-axis
SubgroupMapped to group colors
Y-axis/MetricMetric

Scatter plot

X-axisMapped to X-axis coordinates; takes numeric values
Y-axisMapped to Y-axis coordinates; takes numeric values
GroupMapped to point information
ColorMapped to point colors
SizeMapped to point sizes

You can choose an aggregation method for metric fields based on your business scenario. The aggregation methods supported by each field type are as follows:

Field typeAggregation method
NumericSum, average, count, count distinct, maximum, minimum
Date/Text/BooleanCount, count distinct

In addition, you can set the data display format for metric fields:

  • By default, the thousands separator is turned on and two decimal places are kept
  • You can customize the number of decimal places, percentage decimal places, quantity unit, whether to turn on the thousands separator, and more (up to 10 decimal places are allowed, and trailing zeros are not displayed)

Set the chart style

On the Style tab, you can change how the chart is displayed. Different chart types support different style settings.

Taking the line chart as an example, the configuration items include:

  • Number of items displayed: Sets how many of the top rows in the group and subgroup fields the current chart displays
  • Axis: Sets whether to show axis labels and how axis labels are displayed
  • Metrics: Whether to show metric values on the chart, whether to show metric maximums and minimums, and more
  • Groups: Sets whether to mark the day of the week after date fields

Visual analysis

Field sorting

Field sorting includes sorting group fields and sorting metric fields.

  • Group sorting supports the following sorting methods:

    • Unsort
    • Ascending
    • Descending
    • Sort by metric value
      • For example, in the figure below, the channel field is sorted in descending order of the total top-up amount, so the channel with the most top-ups is shown first
  • Metric sorting
    • Metric sorting in single-dimension tables
      • You can set metric fields to ascending, descending, or unsorted
  • Metric sorting in line charts, bar charts, stacked bar charts, and similar charts

    • Sorting logic: The X-axis/group is sorted by metric value. When there are subgroup items, the subgroups are also sorted by metric value

    • Sorting example: As shown in the figure below, Total Top-ups is sorted in descending order, and the result is as follows:

      • Channels are sorted in descending order of Total Top-ups
      • Server IDs are sorted in descending order of Total Top-ups

In-chart filters

In-chart filters let you filter chart data to show the data you want to focus on. You can drag any field in the query results to the in-chart filter, or click the drop-down arrow to the right of a metric and choose to add the metric to the filter.

After you add an in-chart filter, save the report, and add it to a dashboard, you can filter the report when viewing the dashboard.

Calculation logic

Calculate with full data

When a query returns too many rows (more than 20000 by default), visualization charts are calculated and displayed with partial data by default to keep the configuration experience smooth.

To view the calculation results of all data on the visualization settings page, select Calculate with full data in the lower-left corner.

tip

This option mainly addresses the performance issues caused by repeated loading and calculation during visualization configuration. When you view the chart on the report page or in a dashboard, it is calculated and displayed with full data directly.

In addition, if the model query returns more than the 20000-row limit, sorting or filtering on the report page or in a dashboard also triggers a recalculation with full data to ensure the validity of the analysis results.
