Get an FCM server key
Get the FCM server private key
The FCM channel supports two server key configuration methods, and we support the latest one. Starting in March 2020, FCM stopped creating legacy server keys. If the latest Firebase Cloud Messaging API (V1) is not enabled, go to Google Cloud Console on the right to manage APIs and enable it. If you are an existing user of the Cloud Messaging API (Legacy), consider migrating to the latest Firebase Cloud Messaging API (V1). Learn more.
- Go to the Firebase console and sign in to your account.
- In Firebase project > Select your project app > Project settings > Service accounts, click Generate new private key to get the Firebase server private key JSON file.
- You can also go to Cloud Messaging and click Manage Service Accounts. In the project's service account list, click Manage keys, and then click Add key.
Test the FCM channel
After you configure the FCM channel, you can test how it works directly in Channel Settings. In the action column of the channel, click Send Test (as shown below) to start the channel test.
When you send a test, enter the Push ID of the test account used to verify the result (you can use the AE User Look-Up feature to find the test account's FCM registration token), as well as the title, content, and other information of the notification. Click Confirm & Send to see the result on your phone.
Notes
-
For the push ID of the FCM channel, you must select the user property that represents the FCM registration token. This means that you need to report this property as a user property before you start using the channel.
-
When testing, you must also select the FCM registration token user property of the test account as the push ID. Otherwise, an error indicating that the push ID is unavailable occurs.
-
We recommend testing on a physical Android device sold outside mainland China
- The test device must be a physical device. Emulators cannot receive notifications.
- The test device must support Google GMS (Google Mobile Services).
-
We recommend testing on a network outside mainland China
- If you test in mainland China, the test device should use, and in some cases must use, an IP address outside mainland China.
- The network of the test device must be able to access Google network services normally. Otherwise, even if an FCM push is triggered, the device cannot receive it through the FCM channel.
