Associate data tables with properties

Last updated 06/25/2026

Data tables can be used as dimension tables of event properties and user properties for analysis. In business data models, multiple properties often share the same dimension table. As a single place to maintain data, a data table keeps the dimension data of these properties consistent.

Select event properties or user properties. A data table can be associated with up to 5 properties. For the range of properties that can be associated, see "Appendix: properties that can be associated with data tables" at the end of this page.

After you associate a property, dimension table properties of the associated property are generated automatically: the system creates dimension table properties associated with that property from all the non-primary-key fields of the data table. Because one data table can be associated with multiple properties, to avoid duplicate display names among the generated dimension table properties, the default display name is "Column display name_Main property display name", which you can change as needed. If the display name of the table column isn't set, the column name is used instead; if the display name of the main property isn't set, the property name is used instead.

Tips: By default, a project can create up to 3000 dimension table properties. If this limit is exceeded, the association fails.

Appendix: properties that can be associated with data tables

  • You can select properties whose data type is the same as that of the data table's primary key.
  • When the data table's primary key is of the String type, you can associate List properties. However, non-String fields in the table can't be created as dimension table properties.
  • When the data table's primary key is of the String type, you can associate Time properties. Before associating, you need to specify the time granularity of the table's primary key field, and only the time formats in the following table are supported.

Year2021

The following properties can't be associated:

  • Properties that already have a dimension table;
  • Custom properties whose creation rules use dimension table properties;
  • Custom event properties whose creation rules use user properties;
  • Properties whose data type is Row or Array Row;
