Date annotations

Last updated 10/02/2026

You can annotate key dates in your project, such as version updates and major event launches. After you add annotations, you can compare metric changes before and after those dates in charts.

Add date annotations

Members (Root users, project admins, and some analysts who have been granted permission) can add date annotations in either of the following ways:

  • Directly in the time trend chart of an analysis model
  • On the [Tool]→[Annotations] page in the top bar

Method 1: Add directly in the time trend chart of an analysis model

  • Hover over the bottom of the time trend chart and click Add to annotate that date
  • You can annotate down to the hour level

Method 2: Add on the [Tool]→[Annotations] page in the top bar

Click Add annotation in the upper right of the page, confirm the annotation date and content, and then add it.

After an annotation is added either way, project members can view it in the project's time trend charts (except in SQL reports), making it easy to see how business metrics changed before and after that date.

tip

If your project has time zone settings enabled, you need to specify the time zone of the selected time when you add a date annotation. When you view it in a report, the annotation's time point is shifted according to the current analysis time zone.

Manage date annotations

On the [Tool]→[Annotations] page in the top bar, you can manage all date annotations in the current project, including editing annotations, setting whether they're shown, and deleting them. When adding an annotation, you can also set Tags (annotation content can be up to 200 characters). The Tags column in the list shows the tags of each annotation, and you can click Tag Management in the upper-right corner to manage tags.
