SMTP email configuration

Last updated 10/03/2026

When you need to receive information from AE, such as message updates and dashboard digests, through your company's own email channel, a Root user in AE can configure the SMTP email service on the Email tab under System Settings → General Management → General Configuration.

After the SMTP email service is turned on, the AE system turns messages into emails and sends them to your company's mail server, which then delivers them to the members who subscribed to the messages.

To turn on the SMTP email service, configure the following information:

Server Host Name: The server of the email channel. For example, the server for QQ Mail is smtp.qq.com.

Server Port Number: The port number this mail server provides for sending emails. For example, the outgoing mail server port for QQ Mail is 465 or 587.

Encryption Mode: The SMTP encryption mode this mail server provides. For example, QQ Mail supports only SSL encryption.

Email Sender: The account through which AE sends messages via the mail server. We recommend using the email admin's address or a shared mailbox. This address must be able to send and receive emails normally.

Password: The password for the account above.

Display Name: The sender name displayed when recipients receive the email.

Subject prefix: The text shown at the beginning of the email content when it's received, such as [ThinkingAI].

When the configuration is complete, you can click Send test Email to test whether the configuration works.

  • Note: To send emails through an SMTP server, the ta2 node of the AE cluster must be bound to a public IP (for the HA edition, all nodes must be bound to public IPs). For information about public IP binding, contact ThinkingAI operations staff.
